The purpose of the role of our Support Workers is to provide high quality care and support to individuals with severe physical disabilities with experience of:

You must have a positive attitude and general desire to help people, full right to work in the UK (we are unable to provide certificates of sponsorship) and be over 18. You’ll be required to apply for an enhanced DBS check.

Main Duties:

General

  • To deliver high quality personal care following the care plan and individual Residents wishes to ensure the comfort, dignity and independence of each Resident.
  • Adhere to the local Safeguarding policy, following the Duty of Candour requirements.
  • Monitor the delivery of care when on duty to ensure that it is of high quality and maintains the dignity and well-being of Residents.
  • Understand the importance of privacy, dignity, choice and consent and uphold these basic rights at all times.
  • Contribute to the individualized person centered care planning process of each resident in line with his / her individual care plan with the intention of enabling the individual to achieve the highest possible level of self-sufficiency and independence.
  • Assist with all aspects of Resident’s personal care.
  • Support Residents to receive all the support necessary to enable them to function in their own particular life style, as independently as possible within the limits of their abilities.

  • Ensure detailed and compliant records for the Residents.
  • Ensure Residents health is prioritised and checked in line with regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain hygiene for the Residents following infection control measures at all times.
  • Assist Residents in the Dining Room at meal times. Inform shift manager (RN) of any Residents’ change in eating pattern
  • Ensure Residents are assisted with their laundry arrangements, care of their clothes as required and that their room is tidy and clean.
  • Attend regular supervision with allocated supervisor.

Working Conditions

  • Working hours are on a rolling rota with alternate weekend work. Shifts are 12-hours from 7am – 7pm (no mixed shifts). We offer flexibility of working 24 hours per week up to 48 hours per week.

Main Duties:

Quality and Regulation

  • To ensure the delivery of high-quality personal care following the care plan and individual resident wishes to ensure the comfort and dignity of each resident.
  • Adhere to the local Safeguarding policy, following the Duty of Candour requirements.
  • Monitor the delivery of care when on duty to ensure that it is of high quality and maintains the dignity and well-being of residents.
  • Understand the importance of privacy, dignity, choice and consent and uphold these basic rights at all times.
  • Contribute to the individualized person-centered care planning process of each resident and recording appropriate daily interactions and observations.
  • Complete all regulatory and statutory training requirements and comply with all company policy and procedures whilst at work.
  • Individual key worker responsibility for residents ensuring that residents receive one-to-one quality time when on duty. Additionally supervising the care team to ensure they perform their key worker responsibilities.
  • Train and develop new starters/agency staff supporting sign of for induction and probation.
  • Lead on residents physical and mental well-being and ensure that all residents are treated with dignity.

Clinical Tasks

  • Record observations accurately in Nourish.
  • Perform a range of clinical skills appropriate to the individual resident needs ensuring that these are accurately documented reported and acted upon as necessary.
  • Wound Care- only protective dressings to be applied, under strict direction of nurses.
  • Undertake mandatory training in line with requirements.
  • Medication duties in line with policy and regulations.
  • Regular checks of equipment ensuring its safety for use.
  • Checking and monitoring of support workers completion and accuracy of nourish system.

Leadership

  • Supervise the delivery of high-quality care within the Support Worker Team.
  • Direct, support, mentor and act as a role model for Support Workers and other Senior Support Workers where appropriate.
  • Complete supervision and team communications for support workers assigned.
  • Provide feedback on new starters to the Clinical Support Manager to support the probation process.

General

  • Engage in supporting and delivering activities for residents
  • Work collaboratively within the clinical team to promote a healthy, professional and friendly atmosphere for all residents and their families and friends
  • Support new residents and their families and friends to the home in orientation of the environment
  • Maintain communication and working relationships with healthcare professionals in the home.
  • Be professional, courteous and transparent in your communication.
  • Assist and actively encourage the social care and the well-being of residents with the care team.
  • Leading on residents being taken to social areas of the home and engaging in activities and events.
  • Supporting the escorting of residents when required out of the home for appointments etc. following completion of a risk assessment by the registered nurse.
  • Attend opportunities for clinical/personal training and development.
