Armed Forces Legacy
Since 1946, Chaseley has been honoured to support military personnel with spinal and brain injuries, and today we continue our strong tradition of welcoming veterans. We are proud that members of the Eastbourne Veterans Association generously give their time and now playing a vital role volunteering at Chaseley, not only by tackling essential maintenance tasks such as clearing overgrowth in the gardens and helping with repairs but also by spending time with the residents. Their weekly visits have made them a cherished part of the Chaseley family, sharing conversations, laughter, and even songs with residents.
At the same time, Chaseley has strengthened its support for former Armed Forces members by achieving the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) standards in 2024. This framework ensures the practical, emotional, and social needs of veterans are better met, helping to tackle loneliness and improve wellbeing. Chaseley’s efforts include tailored care plans, addressing isolation, and linking veterans with local support networks such as The Royal British Legion.
The VFF is a collaborative initiative involving organisations such as Royal Star & Garter, The Royal British Legion, and the NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance, supported by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
