Armed Forces Legacy
Since 1946, Chaseley has been honoured to support military personnel living with spinal and brain injuries. That connection to the Armed Forces remains an important part of who we are, and veterans continue to be warmly welcomed at Chaseley today.
A group of local veterans volunteers now give their time each week, helping with practical tasks such as clearing the gardens, carrying out small repairs, and maintaining shared spaces. Just as importantly, they spend time with residents — talking, laughing, and often breaking into song. Their regular visits have made them a valued and familiar presence, and they are very much part of the Chaseley family.
Alongside this, Chaseley has strengthened its support for former Armed Forces members by meeting the standards of the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) since 2024. This helps ensure the practical, emotional, and social needs of veterans are recognised and supported, with a focus on reducing isolation and improving wellbeing.
This work includes personalised care planning, signposting to specialist support, and strong links with local organisations such as The Royal British Legion. The Veteran Friendly Framework is a collaborative programme led by organisations including Royal Star & Garter, The Royal British Legion, and the NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance, with support from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust.
