The Chaseley trust is very proud to be celebrating its 70th year as a care home this year!!!!
For the last few months we have had ‘around the world with Chaseley in 70 weeks’, visiting a different country every week. We have put up information and fun facts, cooked food and watched films/documentaries about that country and had the odd evening event.
To mark the occasion we had a Red Carpet Gala and award show which was a roaring success.
The activities team and Residents started preparing for the event months in advance by creating plaques for the awards in the ceramics sessions. The zero was a globe to symbolise our journey around the world. We also designed certificates for the staff and Residents for their individual award.
We invited all our Residents to don their finery and join us for an evening of glitz and glam, to feel like a star on our red carpet and to dance the night away. We held a beauty parlour before the event started and pampered our ladies to make them feel like royalty. All of our Residents who were able to made the effort to attend along with staff, management and even a few of our trusties, all looking sharp in shirts, bow ties and formal dresses.
We started with a traditional afternoon tea whilst honouring our Residents and staff with awards for their excellence and service and having a glass of bubbly for a toast to the home. The wonderful Julie Terrie( Julies art of noise), who runs our singing workshop, entertained us all with some beautiful renditions of classic songs from around the time the home opened, and invited our guests to be involved with instruments.
A delicious meal was had while the guests relaxed and enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience of the evening. Our catering team really outdid themselves and provided a veritable banquet throughout the evening with non-stop sumptuous food and drinks. The guests enjoyed a choice of beef bourguignon or salmon with a white wine cream reduction, served with fresh buttered new potatoes and seasonal roasted vegetables. This was followed by a selection of mini classic cakes and deserts and the evening was finished with a cheese board and small nibbles.
It was the event of the season and was discussed for days after with people proud of their awards and delighted by the décor and decorations.
